Midlands North-West candidate demands realistic funding for Ireland’s ‘highest participant sport’

Midlands North-West MEP candidate Niall Blaney is insisting that funding be increased for Irish soccer.

He describes the current fund as ‘woefully inadequate’ and says new funding must reflect the sports high societal impact.

Niall Blaney is claiming that all 24 FAI academies are served by just ten staff members, vastly fewer than other countries with a similar number of academies.

The Fianna Fáil Senator is proposing a High-Performance Fund for underage academies to encourage the next generation of topflight footballers.
