Under the umbrella of Irish Rural Link (IRL), the National Meals on Wheels Network was established in 2015. The overall aim to provide a local, community-led professional facility to assist people who require services to maintain independence. In recent weeks a Galway woman has been appointed to head up this vital network and her pathway to this new position is as interesting as the role she is set to play.
