Calling all artists and bands in Galway city and county! This August, showcase your best tunes for a chance to be crowned Ireland’s New Local Hero. At the end of the month, our team will select 3 acts and YOU the public will select 1 act to advance to Galway Bay FM's finals. These finalists will be invited to our studios to share their music and stories, and a panel of industry judges will select the act that represents Galway to be considered in this year’s national finals. Each of the four station finalists will receive a once off payment from the project. This will be €875 for each station finalists (€650 for band / €225 for crew). This will be administered by Hot Press.
Galway Bay FM, along with independent stations around the country will also feature more great Irish music from new, independent and established artists across Irish Music Month.
In all, six acts from around Ireland will be chosen for the Grand Finale at The Academy in Dubln this October where Ireland’s New Local Hero for 2024 will be crowned!

Amhrán an Laoch
There’s a new element to Irish Music Month this year! As well as a search for A New Local Hero, Irish Music Month will also look to unearth a cracking, originally composed song as Gaeilge. Amhrán an Laoch is the song of the hero (or the hero’s song) – so if you or someone you know is writing songs through Irish – or using Irish extensively – get them to upload that song or track HERE.
If it’s your song that gets selected as Amhrán an Laoch, you win:
