The 5* Glenlo Abbey in Galway is pleased to announce the completion of a winter renewal and refurbishment process.

Following on from the initial investment programme Glenlo Abbey Hotel has commenced a series of enhancements which aim to improve overall guest experience and has completed a €1.5 million refurbishment upgrading 28 bathrooms with added air conditioning to 28 bedrooms and 2 Suites. Bedrooms also received a mini makeover with new wardrobes, coffee docks, pelmets and painting.  The ground also had some major work completed including a new road to specifically service their golf and event guest experiences and extended two car parks allowing them to replace a car park with beautiful gardens so bedroom views have been greatly enhanced.  Other work completed includes refurbishment of The Tapestry, The Ffrench Room & The Palmer Bar.

Final planning permission from An Bord Pleanala has been received and will see Glenlo add a further 25 rooms to the property bringing the total bedroom count to 75.  This work is scheduled to start in September 2019 with a view to rooms being ready for the Summer Season 2020.  They’re currently in the planning stage to construct staff accommodation on site, which will help Glenlo attract and retain the best talent available. Glenlo Abbey is also a very good local employer, with over 120 staff currently employed and also had over 50 tradesmen onsite during the winter refurb programme.

Rónán O’Halloran General Manager of the hotel commented ‘Glenlo Abbey is constantly striving to enhance guest experience and the recent refurbishment process has given us the ability to truly offer a warm, personable and luxurious experience, which will compete with the very best of luxury hotels throughout the country”.
