A wreath laying ceremony will take place in Eyre Square later today in honour of U.S. Presidents' Day.

It ties in with ceremonies at presidential statues and monuments in the United States and abroad in a global tradition led by the White House Historical Association.

Organised by the Irish branch of the Association, the Galway ceremony will honour the history of 35th US President John Fitzgerald Kennedy.

The event will take place at the JFK memorial at 1.30 this afternoon where Mayor of Galway Peter Keane will lay the wreath.

Co-chairperson of the Friends of the White House Historical Association in Ireland - Darragh Bohan - invites everyone along to celebrate:#
