The University of Galway has launched the Nelson Mandela Fund to promote race equality and to support scholarships for students.
It will fund more than a dozen new scholarship places and has been unveiled as part of the celebrations and events at the University to mark Race Equality Week.
The late Nelson Mandela was hosted at the University in 2003 when he was awarded an honorary doctorate of laws.
