Special fundraiser to celebrate 75 years of animal rescue in Galway

A special fundraiser will take place in the city next month to mark 75 years of animal rescue in Galway.

The second annual Furball will take place at the Galway Bay Hotel in Salthill on Saturday, May 10th.

This year is the second year of fundraising event Furball - and organisers say it marks a particularly special milestone for animal rescue in Galway and the West.

Galway SPCA is celebrating 40 years of service; Madra 20 years; and Galway Cat Rescue 15 years.

That's 75 years of collective service and many countless thousands of hours of work, much of it done by volunteers.

Organisers say next month's event is a fundraiser - but also a celebration of the legacy, resilience and heart that defines Galway's rescue organisations.

Master of ceremonies on the day will be former Galway Bay FM broadcaster Keith Finnegan.

It is a ticketed event - and further information is available at Furball.ie.
