Issues remain with handful of city pay and display machines

There are still issues with a handful of pay and display machines across the city.

Following the lifting of a grace period on parking fines on Sunday, the city council yesterday confirmed coins can once again be used.

However some machines are still not fully back in action, with the Nun's Island and Dominick Street machines not accepting coins this lunchtime.

Card payments are no longer accepted on the machines, with customers asked to instead pay via the Galway City parking app, a payzone outlet, a website, or over the phone.

This comes amid ongoing legal action taken against Galway City Council in the High Court by a former operator of the service.

Galway Bay fm news has been speaking to these people at Nun's Island, who explain what they encountered at the machine there:
