Galway Bay fm newsroom - Work to erect a bronze replica Padraic Ó Conaire statue in Eyre Square is underway.
The original statue of the famous Irish language writer was moved to Galway City Museum at Spanish Arch to protect it from the elements.
A large wooden box appeared in Eyre Square in the past few days as part of preparations for the unveiling of the replica statue in November.
The city council says an official unveiling ceremony will take place once the bronze statue has been permanently installed.
