Work begins on new social housing in Loughrea

Galway Bay fm newsroom - 68 houses are being constructed in Loughrea for families on the social housing waiting list.

That's according to Councillor Moegie Maher who says it's part of the government's Turnkey Project which Galway county council has signed up to.

He says the development will include a mixture of 3 and 4 bedroom houses located out the Cloonoo Road in the Coscorraig area in Loughrea.

The Fine Gael councillor says construction is expected to be complete in 12 to 18 months.
