The woman assaulted in her home in Aughrim, Ballinasloe on Monday night, has died from her injuries
Searon Naughton of Loughbaun, who was in her fifties, had been treated in Portiuncula Hospital since the incident, but has passed away
The Gardaí have confirmed her death, saying the local coroner has been notified and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.
A man in his fifties, known to Searon, appeared before Ballinasloe District Court yesterday
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have any information on this incident to come forward as the investigation continues.
