The World Health Organisation's Dr Michael Ryan will deliver a keynote address at a workshop led by Galway Traveller Movement later this week.
The workshop will focus on the impact of the pandemic on the Traveller community.
Dr. Michael Ryan, Executive Director, WHO Health Emergencies Programme, has been at the forefront of managing acute risks to global health, including Covid-19.
He will be joined by Dr. Aileen Kitching, Consultant in Public Health for the Galway area, who has been instrumental in coordinating the local response to meeting the Traveller community’s needs arising from COVID-19.
GTM, in collaboration with the Galway Traveller Community, will share their experiences of living with the Covid 19 Pandemic and its long term consequences.
The discussion will explore why health, wellbeing and health outcomes are not determined by medical factors alone.
