Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway Simon Community says the number of people living in emergency accommodation is growing at a faster place in the West than any other region.
The latest figures show that 259 people were recorded as homeless in the Galway area at the end of July.
The Western region recorded a total homeless figure of 496 people - including 209 children- a 56 percent increase compared to the previous year.
In the first seven months of this year, the charity has supported and prevented 277 households from becoming homeless.
