Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway County Council says it expects the water supply in the Headford area will be fully restored by this evening.
It's after a watermain burst between Carheens and Caltra Cross on Tuesday leaving households and businesses without supply for New Year festivities.
Repair works are continuing today to restore water to affected areas which include Kilconoly GWS, Ratesh, Shrule, Liss, Logawannia, Rockwood, Bally Fruit GWS, Cloghanover GWS and Keekill GWS.
The road between Carheens and Caltra Cross remains closed with access for local residents only - while water restrictions were in place overnight to conserve water supplies.
Water tankers are current available at Cloughanover National School and in Shrule Town.
Galway County Council says it hopes water will be restored to all areas by this evening.
