Galway Bay fm newsroom - People supplied by the Williamstown Water Supply are being urged to conserve water over the next few days.
It's due to heavy rainfall over the weekend which has resulted in high turbidity levels in the raw water source supplying the Williamstown water treatment plant.
This has affected the amount of available treated water in the system and at times demand of the scheme is not being met
As a result consumers supplied from this scheme will experience low water pressures or no water at times.
It is expected this situation will continue for the next 24 to 36 hours given the weather forecast.
Ongoing works at the plant to rectify the situation will reduce production further.
However, Irish Water says drinking water going into the system is in full compliance with drinking water regulations.
The utility says it will issue a further update in the coming days.
