Uisce Eireann still working to lift long-running boil water notice in Loughrea

Uisce Eireann says it’s still working to lift a long-running boil water notice affecting many parts of Loughrea.

The notice was issued in March due to chlorine residuals and elevated levels of iron and turbidity in the public water supply.

The ongoing remedial works involve the replacement of 1.8km of cast iron water mains with new pipework.

At the moment, crews are working on almost 700m of the old network.

As sections of the old cast iron piping are replaced, Uisce Eireann will consult with the HSE on lifting the boil water notice in sections.

It’s expected the works will not be fully completed until Spring next year.
