Galway Bay fm newsroom - University Hospital Galway was the third most overcrowded hospital nationwide last year.
That's according to figures from the INMO - which show just under 8 thousand people went without hospital beds at UHG during 2019.
University Hospital Limerick had the highest trolley figures in the country with 13 thousand 941 patients.
Overall, over 118-thousand people were on trolleys in Irish hospitals during 2019 - a nine percent increase on the figure for 2018.
The Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation is now calling on the Government to increase staffing and bed capacity in hospitals.
INMO General Secretary, Phil Ni Sheaghdha wants the recruitment ban lifted.
