University Hospital Galway is restricting visits to one of its wards due to an outbreak of vomiting bug.
Visiting to St Ann’s Ward UHG is limited to compassionate grounds at this time.
In a statement, the hospital says vomiting bug, or norovirus spreads very easily in public places such as hospitals, nursing homes and schools.
It is asking anyone with recent symptoms of diarrhoea and/or vomiting, or who has had contact with others who have symptoms should not visit patients in the hospital.
The hospital is asking urging patients and visitors to practise good hygiene, and to stay at home if feeling unwell.
UHG is thanking the public for their co-operation in helping to reduce the further spread of the bug.
