Galway Bay fm newsroom - Údarás na Gaeltachta has reported the highest ever levels of employment in Galway, Cork and Waterford over the last year.
At the end of 2021, there were 3,180 full-time jobs in client companies supported by Údarás na Gaeltachta in the Galway Gaeltacht, the highest level ever in the
history of the organisation.
337 new jobs were created in Galway Údarás na Gaeltachta client companies in 2021, this makes Galway the county which saw the most employment created for the second year running.
When the number of jobs lost is taken into account, there was a net increase of 7.6% or 225 jobs on the previous year.
Most of the new jobs were created in companies operating in the medical devices, science and engineering sector.
These included expansions by Aran Biomedical, Cambus Medical/Freudenberg Medical and ÉireComposites.
Another significant announcement during the period was contained in the Ros an Mhíl Harbour report which showed that 900 jobs could be created in the renewable energy sector.
