From Galway Bay fm newsroom- Údaras na Gaeltacha has launched Joyce Country and Western Lakes Geopark Managment Plan.
It sets out ideas, priorities and actions on tourism-led community and business development in the geopark.
This is following a familiarisation tour of the Joyce Country and Western Lakes Geopark.
On the tour, representatives of Údarás na Gaeltachta, Galway County Council and Fáilte Ireland were able see the built heritage in the Geopark- including its geological features of international significance.
The tour started in Cong on the boarder between counties Galway and Mayo.
Other stops on the tour included Clonbur and the hill road overlooking Lough Nafooey- where it is hoped an information panel will soon be erected describing the geological history of the valley.
