Two men charged over drugs seizure in Athenry

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Two men have been charged over the seizure of €70 thousand worth of drugs in Athenry.

The drugs - suspected to be cannabis - were discovered in a house on Wednesday night.

At around 8.30 on Wednesday night, Gardai attached to the Galway Divisional Drugs Unit swooped on a house outside the town in what was described as an 'intelligence led' operation.

A search of the premises discovered €70 thousand worth of what's believed to be cannabis herb.

Two men - one aged 27 and the other 25 - were arrested at the scene and taken to Galway Garda Station.

Both men were charged last evening and have since been released from Garda custody - they'll appear before Galway District Court in the coming weeks.
