Galway Bay fm newsroom - A Galway based apprentice and a student have both been recognised for their professional talents at this year's Worldskills competition.
Jack O'Donnell from Lettermore was awarded a medallion for excellence in the Plumbing and Heating category, while Ruairí Grealish from Galway City also won a medallion for excellence in the Restuarant Service competition.
The two Galway based competitors were part of the 17 person Irish team that travelled to Kazan for the event.
The Worldskills competition is held every two years and with almost thirteen hundred participants it is the world's largest professional education event.
This year's closing ceremony included a speech from Russian president Vladamir Putin.
