The NUI Galway Commerce student was an accomplished camogie player, who represented Galway at underage level.

She won two All-Ireland under 16 titles with the county in 2016 and 2017, and enjoyed Connacht camogie success with Presentation College Athenry.

Kate was also to the forefront of Athenry's senior team, and was wing back when Athenry contested the 2018 All-Ireland Intermediate final.

A statement issued by Galway Camogie says Kate Moran was a role model and leader, both on and off the field.

Kate is the daughter of former Galway hurler Cathal Moran and his wife Mary, and has two sisters Leah and Saoirse, and a brother Thady.
