Galway Bay fm newsroom - A tree planting took place at County Hall last evening, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the twinning of County Galway with Washington County in the US state of Wisconsin.
The delegation from Washington County attended yesterday's county council meeting and were the guests of honour at special events in the city last night.
As they have been visiting all corners of the county, their focus is on strengthening the bonds of friendship, and exchanging insights into governance and economic development in both jurisdictions.
Speaking after planting the sugar-maple tree outside County Hall, Washington County Board Chair, Jeffrey Schlief, said they're amazed by the welcome they've received.
