Traffic disruption expected in city as major roadworks to get underway at Bohermore

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Motorists are being advised to expect traffic disruptions in the city from tomorrow as major roadworks are set to get underway at Bohermore.

The month-long project is part of a plan to upgrade and replace almost 20km of watermains throughout the city.

Galway County Council says leakage in the Bohermore/Prospect Hill area amounts to 30 thousand litres per hour - the equivalent of two swimming pools.

The works - which will last for about four weeks - get underway tomorrow morning and rolling lane closures and other measures will be in effect.

Senior Engineer with Water Services, Lisa Fanning, says they're working to ensure traffic disruptions are keep to a minimum.

And Lisa Fanning says while some disruption is inevitable, now is the best time to carry out the works.
