€600m has been allocated to this year's national winter plan amid the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic - making it the largest investment ever.

However, Forsa Trade Union claims none of that funding will go towards extra jobs or services in the area of Mental Health in Galway. Mayo and Roscommon.

It says there is a severe lack of acute beds, while staff are at breaking point, and many services have broken down as a result of Covid-19.

It says while extra allocations to primary and social care under the Winter Plan are most welcome, it beggars belief that mental health services have been excluded.

Padraic Mulligan of Forsa says the matter needs to be urgently addressed as demands in mental health services grow.

The Saolta Group has confirmed there was no additional allocation in the Winter Plan for Mental Health Services, but adds it is awaiting the core allocations for 2021 which is expected within a week.
