Galway Bay fm newsroom - The west Connemara Gaeltacht should focus on certain specific segments of the tourism market rather than trying to get large numbers into the area.
That is according to Steve Ó Cúláin, chairman of a tourism promotion company in the Gaeltacht who was launching a brochure for visitors in Carna last evening.
The “culturally curious” and the “great escapers” - they are the segments of the tourism market that are most likely to holiday in areas such as Ros Muc and Carna.
So said Steve Ó Cúláin, chairman of the organisation “Cósta Gaeleach Chonamara agus Árainn” which has been initiated by Údarás na Gaeltachta to promote tourism in Connemara and the Aran Islands.
The brochure launched by Mr Ó Cúláin last evening highlights beaches, natural beauty, the landscape, holy wells and the heritage and culture of the west Connemara Gaeltacht.
