TII considers recommendation for roundabout at Kilmeen Cross near Loughrea

Transport Infrastructure Ireland is considering a recommendation to install a roundabout to address safety concerns at Kilmeen Cross on the N65 near Loughrea.

A local action group has led a long-running campaign to provide lighting for the busy intersection which has been the scene of several collisions.

Minister of State and Galway East TD Ciaran Cannon says TII will recommend that a medium-term solution to give the N65 priority should be developed and included in the TII minor scheme programme.

Our reporter Stella Meehan has been speaking to Minister Cannon.

He favours a proposal which incorporates a roundabout giving priority to the national road.
