Three Galway markets to join Cottage Market community

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Galway is to get three new cottage markets in the coming months.

It's as a result of the 'Cottage Market' initiative unveiled by Grow It Yourself - GIY - supported by Ulster Bank and The Ireland Funds.

Athenry, Inishbofin and Portumna will see the launch of the new 'cottage' markets from May and June.

The teams behind the new markets will undertake a tailor-made training course in Waterford and will also receive funding towards marketing, insurance and set-up equipment costs.

Community Manger with Grow It Yourself, Karen O' Donohoe says the cottage market makes local produce a focal point within the community.
