Three Galway based projects awarded over €12 million in disruptive technology funding

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Three Galway based projects have been awarded over €12 million in disruptive technology funding.

The Department of Enterprise has announced the details of the €95 million fund which will be invested in the successful projects run by various businesses and educational institutions nationwide over the next three years.

The largest allocation of €7 million has been awarded to the consortium consisting of Connemara company HiTech Health, Relevium Medical Ltd and NUIG to complete its regenerative treatment for knee osteoarthritis.

The team made-up of Aran Biomedical Teoranta, Lifelet Medical and NUIG will receive just under €3 million for their heart valve technology research.

Meanwhile, ÉireComposites Teoranta, Manna Drones Ltd and NUIG have been awarded almost €2.5 million for their MI-DRONE project, which aims to deliver goods to consumers faster and in a more sustainable manner.

Each application was assessed by a team of international experts on the grounds of quality, overall approach, economic impact and sustainability and the strength of the collaboration.
