Galway Bay fm newsroom - The tender process for the long awaited Athenry Sewerage Plant upgrade is due to begin in the coming weeks.
That's according to OPW Minister and Galway East TD Sean Canney
He says the contract is likely to be awarded in Autumn this year, with construction planned to begin before the end of the year.
The upgrade will see plant capacity increase to service 9,000 households and will assist the future expansion of the sewerage network in the region.

Minister Canney says the upgrade is an important milestone in ensuring Athenry is equipped for future development.
