Galway Bay fm newsroom - The government needs to do more to support rural Ireland in delivering a promised water services investment programme.
That's according to Independent Roscommon/Galway TD Michael Fitzmaurice who says the new programme was promised in February by Minister for Housing, Planning and Local Government, Eoghan Murphy.
The Independent TD says local authorities and the public are still operating under the rules of the previous programme which finished last year.
The new plan would see significant capital investment to support group water schemes in rural areas along with an increase to grants for those refurbishing domestic wells.
