Success for Renmore and Shantalla schools at Ocean Champion Awards

Two Galway schools are celebrating after separate wins in the national Ocean Champion Awards.

Scoil Chaitiona Junior in Renmore won the national award for the Marine Institute’s Explorers Ocean Champion Award.

As part of their project ‘Caring for the Ocean’, pupils worked with ATU Galway and local artists, and performed an ocean-inspired musical ‘as Gaeilge’.

While Scoil Bhríde in Shantalla won in their category ‘Marine Outdoor School Project.’

The students will be presented with the awards in their schools later this month.
