Step forward for multi-million euro extension at Gort Community School

Galway Bay fm newsroom - There's been a step forward in plans for a multi-million euro new school extension at Gort Community School.

The works will allow for six new classrooms, a new science laboratory, a new technical graphics room and four special education rooms.

The investment is to cater for the growing student population which is now several hundred students over the capacity of the original building.

The building project has now been devolved to the school authority for delivery - with the next step to be the appointment of a design team.

Galway East Fine Gael Minister Ciaran Cannon says the project is a major investment in the future of education in South Galway.
