Step forward for Kilrickle group water scheme

Galway Bay fm newsroom - There's been a significant step forward in plans to provide a group water scheme for the Kilrickle area.

Deputy Sean Canney says the pipe network plan for the Kilrickle/Kilcooley Group Water Scheme has now gone out to tender.

He says the move is a "milestone" in the long-running fight for a water supply for Kilrickle and the upgrading of the pipe network for Kilcooley.

Up to 250 connections are needed in the east Galway village where locals have long relied on wells or rainwater tanks.

Deputy Canney says people have been very patient, but have seen many "false dawns" over the last 20 years.
