Galway Bay fm newsroom - St. Oliver's Special School in Tuam has received approval to build a new school building.
It operates under the patronage of Ability West and caters for pupils aged 4 to 18 who have a learning disability or physical or sensory disabilities.
The development in the Glebe, Tuam will involve a part single storey, part two storey structure.
There will also be on-site parking provision as well as all associated landscaping and boundary treatments.
County planners have attached 13 conditions.
One states all parking is to be properly consolidated, surfaced and drained in accordance with standards set out by the town engineer.
At present there are 4 classes in the school which also has an Early Intervention Class for children with a diagnosis of Autism aged 2 to 6.
