South Galway farmer estimates “horrific” dog attack on flock caused €5 thousand damage

Galway Bay fm newsroom – A South Galway farmer says a “horrific” dog attack on his flock that left dozens of sheep dead has cost him at least €5 thousand.

Christopher Rock from Peterswell had seen his flock at 3.30am on Tuesday morning.

But three hours later at 6.30am, he returned to a scene of utter devastation.

Twenty ewes and ten lambs were killed, while over a dozen more were injured.

It’s not known what dog was responsible or if multiple dogs were involved, but Christopher says a loose Alsatian was spotted nearby at 6.30am.

Speaking to Galway Talks, Christopher said the real cost of the attack goes far beyond the €5 thousand.
