Slight rise in numbers receiving pandemic unemployment payment in Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom - 19,590 employees who are out of work in Galway are receiving the pandemic unemployment payment this week.

The figure is slightly up on last week, with less than 100 registering a new claim.

The Department of Social Protection has issued payments valued at €104 million this week.

The sector with the highest numbers in receipt of the State benefit is accommodation and food services followed by wholesale and retail trade.
