Galway Bay fm newsroom - A new report by the Simon Community has revealed a significant drop in the number of available rental properties in Galway city.
According to the 'Locked Out' report, there was an average of 25 properties available to rent in Galway City Centre during June - a drop of 62% on the 65 properties advertised in March.
In the city's suburbs there was an average of 35 properties available to rent in June compared to 51 in March.
Meanwhile, none of the available properties in the city centre or the suburbs were priced within any HAP limits in June.
Nationwide the report found the number of homes within HAP categories on the market has fallen by 14% since Christmas.
The Simon Community is warning of increased homelessness as more people are priced out of the rental market.
