Galway Bay fm newsroom - There has been a significant increase in the use of Galway's public bike scheme, with over 23 thousand journeys taken last year.
However, the latest figures represent a daily average of just 65 trips a day on the 195 bikes across the city.
The overall number of journeys taken on the bike schemes in Dublin, Galway, Cork and Limerick fell by 5% last year to just over 4.4 million.
According to the Irish Examiner, the NTA says the increase in journeys for the Galway scheme can be attributed to the introduction of eight new stations across the city- including at NUI Galway and GMIT.
