Significant drop in number of new Covid-19 cases in Galway

Galway Bay fm newsroom - The number of new Covid-19 cases in Galway is continuing to fall steadily according to the latest figures.

675 new cases of the virus were confirmed here yesterday, the lowest daily figure in almost three weeks - while six more deaths were reported.

Of those, just 13 new cases were confirmed in Galway - compared to 47 new cases yesterday and 53 on Tuesday.

This day last week, Galway had 104 new cases of the virus.

The national 14-day incidence rate of Covid-19 per 100,000 people has now fallen below 300 for the first time in over a week.

327 people with the disease were being treated in Irish hospitals last night, while 40 patients were in intensive care units.
