Galway Bay fm newsroom - The Saolta Hospital Group has warned of significant disruption and service delays in Galway's public hospitals today and tomorrow as medical laboratory scientists resume industrial action.
Up to 30,000 hospital procedures will be cancelled nationwide due to the strike.
2,100 medical scientists are picketing over pay and career development issues.
They're refusing to carry out routine lab services from 8am to 8pm today and tomorrow.
Tony Canavan, Chief Executive of the Saolta Hospital Group, says the strike will lead to the cancellation of many inpatient and day-case elective procedures, as well as hospital outpatient appointments.
