Galway Bay fm newsroom - The City Council has been contacted by several property and landowners who are considering selling homes or land to the local authority for the provision of social housing.
It follows a council effort to acquire more social housing.
Part of the efforts will involve buying homes directly from developers, and purchasing land on which to build new units.
Following a call for expressions of interest, several property owners contacted the council.

The local authority says a number of these offers are under 'active consideration.'
