Senior officials would consider modular building at Merlin Park Hospital

Galway Bay fm newsroom - Senior HSE officials have indicated they would consider the use of modular buildings at Merlin Park Hospital in a bid to increase capacity.

The subject of such temporary accommodation was raised at Regional Health Forum level where city councillor Padraig Conneely questioned officials on any plans for such structures at GUH.

Chief Operating Officer Ann Cosgrove said there is no plan for a modular building at the UHG site.

However, she indicated a modular building would be considered for the Merlin Park site in a bid to increase capacity.

Councillor Conneely says modular buildings at the site could play a huge role in solving the crisis at UHG.
