It follows a decision from the Review Committee on School Transport at the Department of Education.
The School Transport Scheme provides transport to qualifying students attending local schools.

However, the eligibility rules were strict and students could only attend their nearest school.
Senator Kyne says the relaxation of the rules now mean that students can attend their second nearest school.
He argues the nearest school is not always the best option.
