Plans for a penguinarium in Salthill are not yet dead in the water.
Galway Atlantaquaria was refused planning permission to extend its aquarium in Salthill to include a purpose-built penguinarium.
That decision is now being appealed to An Bord Pleanála.
The penguinarium would have included a penguin pool and beach areas.
It would also have an enclosure wall and viewing points and seating.
The city council refused permission stating that the development would be unduly prominent in the area.
Galway Atlantaquaria is now appealing that decision to An Bord Pleanála.
