Galway Bay fm newsroom - A major search is underway along the west coast for the black box of missing coastguard helicopter, Rescue 116.
Efforts are continuing to find three crewmen after the aircraft disappeared from radar screens several miles off the Mayo coast shortly before 1am with 4 crew on board.
1 man has been rescued and is understood to be critically ill.
Debris has been spotted over a wide area in the sea, and pieces are being recovered by vessels helping in today's operation.
Jurgen Whyte is the Chief Aeronautical Officer with the Air Accident Investigation Unit
He says they're hopeful the helicopter's black box will tell them what went wrong.
