Galway Bay fm newsroom - A search operation is underway in Connemara for a hillwalker who's been missing since last evening.
Galway Mountain Rescue Team says the Dublin man in his 50s had been walking alone on the northern end of the Maamturk Mountains close to Leenane
The experienced hillwalker last made contact with a family member at approximately 4.30 yesterday afternoon from a location known locally as the Col of Despondency.
Visibility is poor today, with low cloud making conditions unsuitable for helicopter operations.
Galway Mountain Rescue Team is being supported in their search by Gardai from Clifden, and local landowners.
