Galway East TD Sean Canney says greater efforts must be made to tackle huge waiting times for the Warmer Homes Scheme.
The scheme provides attic and cavity upgrades to homes in receipt of certain welfare payments.
But Deputy Canney told the Dáil that upon making an application, people are discovering it can take up to two years for the works to be carried out.
Speaking in reply, Minister Ossian Smyth said more funding has been allocated, contractor capacity has been expanded, and waiting times are down to 19 months.
Deputy Canney agreed it's a great scheme - but said something has to be done to speed it up even further.
