Sean Canney says HSE “robbing Peter to pay Paul” within healthcare services

Galway Bay fm newsroom – Local TD Sean Canney says the HSE is “robbing Peter to pay Paul” within healthcare services.

He’s been telling the Dáil that Section 39 health workers provide an invaluable service to the state.

Section 39 organisations provide a range of services in the disability, mental health, addiction, domestic and sexual violence services – in agreement with the HSE.

But they don’t receive the same pay and conditions as their counterparts working directly for the HSE.

Deputy Canney says as a result many are transferring to the HSE for better conditions – creating huge problems in Section 39 organisations.
